What can I expect?
We will set up a series of three appointments. The intake appointment is set up as a telehealth appointment through the electronic health record portal (TherapyNotes) and will last approximately 45-60 minutes. The assessment session is in person with your student and approximately 3-4 hours. The final session is over telehealth, lasts for approximately one hour, and offers the feedback and recommendations. A comprehensive report is completed an available immediately and once all balances have been paid.
Who comes to each appointment?
The parent/s typically participate in the telehealth intake and feedback session while the student participates in the assessment session. The assessment session can be at your child's school, if the school agrees, or at the EAC office located at 601 North Belair Square, Suite 19, Evans, Georgia 30809.
How do we connect for our telehealth appointment?
You will get a series of reminder emails once we confirm our appointments that will contain the link to the telehealth appointments. You can also follow this link to the patient portal: https://www.therapyportal.com/p/educational30809/
If more than one person would like to join and you are not in the same location at the time of the appointment, please email and we will set up a zoom meeting.
Who will provide information?
The EAC will collect information from parents, the student, and teachers, with parent consent.
Do you take insurance?
We do not accept insurance. The EAC services are self pay. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company. Our services typically do qualify for flex spending.
Why don't you take insurance?
Most insurance companies do not deem educational assessments "medically necessary" and therefore do not reimburse for those services. Additionally, insurance companies require mental health diagnoses for reimbursement and our assessments do not always result in a diagnosis or often result only in a learning based diagnosis which is not covered by insurance. Finally, insurance companies can put limitations on services, such as length of services or assessments used, and we would like to make those decisions based on clinical experience and the child's need rather than insurance criteria.
